I’ve been in the bay area this week, and had several rides in Waymo. I expected it to be only in SF, but it is all around the South Bay. It is remarkable how many I saw, and how quickly I got used to the drive. It is clearly safer than human drivers. While I was riding, it stopped for two kids chatting in the middle of a pedestrian crossing. A human driver coming the other way nearly didn’t stop and nearly hit the kids.

Much better awareness than a human driver - possibly a higher viewpoint.

The car has a steering wheel, mirrors, pedals etc, so I guess the staff drive them from time to time. However, the windscreens are often dirty, because there’s no forcing function to keep them clean.

Seeing a pedestrian and a red light - would never do in Dubin.
